I composed this simple piece for my school choir. Our school theme this year is “Peacemaker”, so I used the classic text by Francis of Assisi (attributed to, maybe not written by him). Any feedback would be appreciated.

Here is a newly composed short song. The harmonics is m10-11 are an attempt at text painting. LIGHT changes you. I’m currently composing a collection of short, meditative pieces with texts taken from the “I am” statements of Jesus. I welcome feedback.

Very nice. An idea would be on m11, b3 to use a I chord.

The harmonics fit the text. They (harmonics/chastening) are a bit unsettling at times, but then they resolve. Good work!

After using it at an event this weekend, here is revised version. The “Father but by me” phrase has less movement, but it more stable harmonically.

Lovely tune and chord progression.

The music came easily for this text. I intentionally kept it diatonic, and the melody within an octave. Fresh, modern chord progressions are combined with a deep text. The choir that premiered the piece really connected with the song.
